Richmond, VA (PRWEB) October 01, 2013

The Virginia Prosperity Project (VirginiaP2), the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s non-partisan, voter education and GOTV campaign, launched its fourth week of video candidate interviews, this week focusing on health care issues. The eight-part series focuses on major issues affecting Virginia voters and offers the candidates’ responses in their own words, allowing voters to compare the positions and ideas of each candidate.

Key takeaways from the healthcare candidate videos include:

Ken Cuccinelli: “We need to expand the market for health insurance and increase competition in order to keep costs down.”

Terry McAuliffe: “One of the most important elements of the Medicaid expansion is that we will free up $500 million from the general fund, allowing us to invest in education”

Robert Sarvis: “On both the federal and state level we can do a lot to deregulate the market, return to a system where there are market incentives, price transparency, and we capitalize on our resources.”

In addition to the candidate videos, VirginaP2 also released the results of its Virginia healthcare voter survey at http://www.virginiap2.com/.

“The rising cost of health care continues to be a major concern for both businesses and nearly every Virginian,” said Ryan Dunn, Executive Director of VirginiaP2. “Voters need to understand how each candidate plans to address the rising cost while ensuring Virginians have access to affordable, quality health care.”

VirginiaP2’s candidate questionnaire videos focus on eight specific topics ranging from healthcare, workforce, business climate, taxation, and Virginia’s regulatory system; comparing and contrasting the candidates on the issues that matter most to the public and employers and employees.

The Virginia Prosperity Project (VA P2) is a nonpartisan, issue education and election information clearing house used by thousands of Virginia voters to help them play a more active and informed role in government and the political process. The Prosperity Project does not endorse candidates and does not tell voters how to vote.
