The City of Richmond encourages residents to “Shop Small” and local on Saturday, November 30 for national Small Business Saturday. Celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 30 is a day dedicated to support and celebrate small businesses.
“Small businesses create jobs, help boost our economy and preserve our neighborhoods,” says Mayor Dwight C. Jones. “‘Shop Small’ this holiday season to emphasize the importance of supporting small independently owned businesses in the community.”
According to the United States Small Business Administration, there were nearly 28 million small businesses in the U.S. last year, and these small businesses created 65 percent of net jobs over the past two decades.
