Since its inception, Seniors Guide has been about more than just publishing magazines and websites specializing in independent living, assisted living and all other retirement options. Support for issues surrounding the senior community has always been paramount, and Alzheimer’s awareness and research remains a top priority.

So it’s no surprise that every November, Seniors Guide takes time to acknowledge and support National Alzheimer’s Disease and Awareness Month (NADAM) and Family Caregivers Month.

“As a part of the senior living industry, it’s only right that we do what we can for National Alzheimer’s Disease and Awareness Month,” says Katharine Ross, Vice President for Seniors Guide Magazine and http://www.SeniorsGuideOnline.com. “With 47 million people around the world living with dementia, the least we can do is use our reach to help get the word out.”

One step to spread the message was changing all their social media icons to the color purple, a show of solidarity with the Alzheimer’s Association, those suffering from the disease, and the families that have been touched by it. In addition, Seniors Guide has partnered with Alzheimers Association chapters throughout Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; and Roanoke-Lynchburg.

Perhaps the most important step in supporting the community is the wealth of informative articles on alzheimer’s, dementia, and caregiving available on the Seniors Guide website.
“That’s really the heart of what we do,” says Ross. “We think it’s most valuable to get the information to seniors and their families, whether its about preventative care, new research, coping methods, or memory care living options. We just want to make it as easy on these folks as possible.”
