The 2012 Richmond Folk Festival kicks off on Friday, October 12 and continues through Sunday, October 14 in Downtown Richmond’s riverfront. This free three-day festival celebrates the roots and variety of American culture through music, dance, traditional craft and food. This event is expected to be one of the largest events in Virginia drawing visitors from across the country.
Several streets will be closed to vehicles in downtown Richmond this weekend to accommodate the Richmond Folk Festival. Please be cautious and patient this weekend as there will be large crowds in the downtown Richmond area.
The event will require the closing of:
East Byrd Street between South Second and South Seventh streets;
South Second Street between the Lee Bridge and East Byrd Street;
South Third Street between East Canal and East Byrd streets;
South Fourth Street between East Canal and East Byrd streets;
South Fifth Street between East Canal and Tredegar streets;
Tredegar Street between South Seventh and the Belle Isle parking lot;
South 10th Street between Haxall Point and the Federal Reserve Building, and;
Spring Street between South Belvidere and East Second streets.

Parking will not be permitted on South Second and South Fifth streets.

The roads will be closed from 4:00 p.m., today to 11:59 p.m., Sunday, October 14.
