The City of Richmond invites residents to join the festivities during Main Street Station’s annual holiday open house on Friday, December 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. This year’s event will feature holiday music, refreshments and entertainment for all ages. Michael Klee will be on hand to perform magic tricks and balloon twisting, while DJ Christy Yeadon provides music and interactive kids’ activities. Complimentary lemonade and cookies will be available. Walk across Main Street to the “Cathedral Walk” at the Plaza at Main Street Station, so the kids can enjoy a ride on the kiddie train. Before leaving, stop on the first floor of Main Street Station to take pictures in the holiday cut-out “greeting cards” that are decorated by metro Richmond area schools.
The City hopes you remember those who are less fortunate in our community, and if you can, please consider volunteering this holiday season or donating to the City’s Toy Drive by dropping off a new unwrapped toy or book in the holiday open house toy drive drop box.
Main Street Station is located in historic Shockoe Bottom at 1500 East Main Street. Admission to the holiday open house is free. Parking is available on the west side of the Station, using the Franklin Street entrance, for $2. Additional parking is located in the plaza or on the east side of the station.
