The McShin Foundation in association with Sober St. Patrick’s Day® launches a new
event at
The Church Hill Irish Festival, at St. Patrick’s Church
Richmond, Va- The McShin Foundation in Partnership with Sober St. Patrick’s Day®
(www.soberstpatricksday.org) will be hosting a sober section at St. Patrick’s Church at the
intersection of 25th St and E. Broad St at The Church Hill Irish Festival
(www.churchhillirishfestival.com) from 10 am – 7 pm on March 22, 2014 and 10 am – 6 pm on
March 23, 2014. The Festival will feature a Parade, entertainment, food, and shopping. The
McShin Foundation will set up a large sober section in the family-friendly area of the festival
and will have Mr. Malachy McCourt (Irish-American Actor and Writer) as our guest speaker.
Mr. McCourt will be the Grand Marshall of the parade at 10 am on March 22, 2014 and later
following that he will be speaking on his experience in recovery from Alcoholism at 3 pm. Mr.
McCourt will be available for interviews. This Sober section is part of the new National
movement called Sober St. Patrick’s Day®, which was launched in New York City 2 years ago,
and along with the regularly scheduled Irish Festivities is anticipating thousands in attendance.

McShin is hosting Sober St. Patrick’s Day® -Richmond in order to spread the message of hope to
individuals and families who suffer with Substance Use Disorders. For more information on this

Street Closures for March 22 & 23 – Church Hill Irish Festival

The Richmond Police Department will be closing the following streets for this weekend’s Church Hill Irish Festival.

WHERE:
25th Street between Marshall and Grace streets
East Broad Street between 24th and 26th streets

WHEN: Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.

BACKGROUND: These streets will be closed for the Church Hill Irish Festival at 25th and East Broad streets.
