The Department of Public Works is hosting a second biodegradable bag give-away for City residents who bag their leaves. The give-away is scheduled for Sunday, December 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Byrd Park Roundhouse, 621 Westover Road.
While supplies last, up to five bags will be given to those who show proof of residency.
In addition, the next Neighborhood Leaf Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, December 10, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Westover Hills and Forest Hill Terrace neighborhoods.
Residents can put out as many as 50 bags per household during the weekend neighborhood clean-ups. All types of bags will be collected, not just biodegradable. The first clean-up was a success with approximately 20,900 pounds of leaves picked-up, or between 700 and 800 bags.
Both the bag give-away and the clean-up will take place rain or shine. In clean-up areas the bags must be ready for removal when City trucks arrive
