RICHMOND, VA. (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 23, 2015
Milton’s Local has announced the launch of its new private-label artisan bacon sausage, made from all-natural pork raised on family farms. These private label offerings are an extension of Milton’s Local’s burgeoning business sourcing locally raised meat from sustainable farms for a range of wholesale buyers—restaurants, grocery stores and small markets—to provide better access for conscious consumers. The company was started by James Faison, a Virginia native and fourth-generation farmer, who diverted from a career path as a corporate lawyer to get back to his family roots.
It’s no secret that more and more consumers now want to know the origins of their food. Milton’s Local is committed to the honest transparency that conscious eaters are seeking, vowing only to source meat from sustainable farmers who treat and feed their animals well. With these trusting relationships in place, Milton’s Local now sources all natural, locally sourced beef and pork for more than 50 wholesale outlets in the Mid-Atlantic, bringing the farm to table via restaurants, grocery stores, CSAs and small specialty markets in Richmond and Washington, D.C. Some of the restaurants include America Eats Tavern, by James Beard award winner José Andrés, Iron Gate, by James Beard award nominee Anthony Chittum, and Red Hen, by Food & Wine Magazine Best New Chef nominee Michael Friedman. A full list of partners can be found on the Milton’s Local website.
Community outreach is also part of the company model. Faison sits on the board of Tricycle Gardens, a nonprofit committed to providing healthy food options to Richmond’s low-income residents. Milton’s Local also sources sustainable meat for the D.C-based Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture’s Food Hub.
